Aerial in attic - lost channels

I have an external aerial on the floor of the attic for last few years and it's being picking up the saorview channels fine.

"It got moved" when people were bring down the Christmas decorations and now no matter where I put it I can't get signal. I tried all the connections etc and no channels, and then switched to old rabbit ears and got half the channels so seems to narrow it to an aerial problem.

I assume something got bent on the aerial itself - am I best just getting a new aerial?. Getting signal from Maghera.

Check the cable connection to the aerial. Ensure the braid and core wire aren't touching.

Post a pic of the aerial/ connection if you can

Thanks for that will give it a go. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything.

Could that still be the issue even though I got some channels with the rabbit ears?

On the long shift in work now but will try get picture tonight if can get into acttic without waking the house!

Is polarisation correct? (aerial rods horizontal - not vertical - in your case)

Is there any reaon you can't have this aerial outside? Aerials in attics will generally struggle to pick up a decent signal unless you are in a primary service area.

Just ease of use. I connected it up in the attic to see would it work and it did so it saved having to get someone to mount it outside and run new cables as there was already cables terminating in attic . Its been there since the Winter before Covid arrived and was working fine.
