8solar panels, 3kw battery but no BER upgrade

hi, following house renovations and upgrades (100mm dry lining, attic insulation, triple glazed windows, new combi boiler, underfloor heating), I was rated B3. Two different assessors rated me B3, different times. I then decided to get8 solar panels on my south facing roof plus 3kw battery. Assessor then rated me B2, then he was audited and I was kept at B3 by SEAI.
has anybody heard of an upgrade in solar resulting in no BER improvement? I feel very duped as everybody says it improves your homes rating. But not mine. Views please?

If the original BER was in the lower end of the bracket then 8 PV panels may not get it to a B2, There are 25kwh/m2/yr between the ratings.

    hi, thx for reply.
they also rated my windows as “fair ”. But every window is new triple glazed, upvc. I have four roof lights that are 800x1000mm each, apparently these are double glazed.
how can my windows be “fair ”?
also they rated my walls as “poor” despite 100mm dry lining throughout the house.
I really feel my expenditure and efforts to go green are a waste of my money

You need the certs for the windows, if you don't have those they get given crap ratings. Plenty of BERs attained 5-10 years ago will come out lower now that there's stricter checking of certification on things.

is the house warmer. are you using less electricity / offsetting with production, thats what i would focus on, not a B2 or B3 BER.

    100%

Op pls post the kWh/m2/hr figure from the 3 BERS

as alluded to above, all the upgrades need full independent certificates.

eg for windows, did you provide something like this

    image.png

what was the extent of the attic insulation upgrade?

did you have paperwork for the walls upgrade. showing the spec on the D/L

as Vance says, dont sweat it if the house is ….

thank you for the inputs. The assessor didn’t ask about window certs and I thought the fact that he coukd see that they were triple glaze was enough. I have now emailed window suppliers for certs, I defo wasn’t provided with any certs before.
attic insulation 300mm, grant received which confirmed it.
builder who did my dry lining retired after my house extension and closed his biz so I can’t get confirmation of 100mm dry lining (except all I have is photos of it stacked in my home prior to being installed. ). I had no idea certs were required, when I got my b3 ratings in 2014 and in 2024 (before solar) both diff assessors used observation skills. I feel so much regret for not having evidence
