Virgin Box Hard Drive zapped again

Every single Virgin TV box I have been given with a hard drive in the last 15 years, the drive has eventually stopped working and all the recordings gone.

The original Horizon box went caput in 2013, all recordings gone.

Then I was given that weird curved Virgin box that looks like a PS3 as a replacement, the hard Drive went after a year, all recordings zapped.

I was given a similar model but without the SCART socket (thats another story) as a replacement. That lasted till 2023 before the hard drive went.

Then I was given the small new box, and low and behold, a year later the hard drive doesn't work anymore. All my Christmas recordings gone.

What is it with those hard drives?

Maybe its the continuous recording of live tv in the background. Were hard drives ever designed to be in constant use 24/7?

    A design flaw?

Your simply unlucky and all hard drives fail eventually as far as I know. You won't have that problem with a streaming box but as for recording RTE and BBC well that's another story…
