    Hi all,

Looking to get a new roadbike. My budget would stretch to €1700 or thereabouts.

I’m not great on the technical aspects but my current 9-year-old Scott Speedster is an 11 speed and I would like to go to that again.

    I see a Cube Attain SLX 2025 12 speed for €1500 12 SPEED CUBE

and a 2022 Cube Attain GTC 11 speed for €1750 11 SPEED CUBE

How is a 12 speed cheaper than an 11 speed? Would I be better off with the 11 speed considering price then?

    Any opinions welcome.

    Thanks,

the more expensive bike has a carbon frame, and the cheaper one is aluminium, which is probably the difference. but the more expensive one is a 2022 model?

Thanks for that @magicbastarder. Would the year of model make much difference?

The Scott I have now is aluminium frame too (cost E800 9 years ago!)

it's not goign to be a significant difference, all told. but i'd be curious as to what the price of that bike was a couple of years ago, i'd expect a discount if it's a few years old.

Its down from 1950 on that website. I see the same bike for 1950 on other sites as well. Maybe its the last one.

I have the GTCR and paid 2K for it 2 years ago. It's a nice bike, but it's not particularly light for a carbon bike, it's not much lighter than the alloy one you're comparing it with. 12 vs 11 isn't going to make much difference, the main question is what are the smallest and largest cogs. Easiest gear on the 11 speed is 34x32, on the 12 speed its 34x34 which is slightly easier.

Thanks for that advice. I'd still be leanig towards the GTCR. Pity about the white!

the white really shows the dirt. I've also found the paint on mine not that durable, I've had a few chips in the paint just from normal usage (i.e. I'm not riding gravel or anything).
