So you win the Euromillions Jackpot and Jarlath Burns comes to you with cap in hand….

You offer to "buy" the GAA and of course he agrees! He gives you total control and full say. (I know he can't so this but suspend your disbelief please!!) He says please make us better O wise one!

What way would you reimagine the GAA?

For ground rules, we assume everything is as it is currently now. Population centers are the way they are now. But how would you improve things if we say that we want more top level matches and things evenly spread out of course. The long term goal being every county/area has a chance in both codes and the GAA is drawing fans and players from all over the world as it rivals other sports. Rugby and soccer become tiny minority sports due to your wisdom!

Would you build more stadia and if so where? Get rid of certain ones? Assume planning permission is no problem. (now we know we are dreaming!)

Amalgamate teams or split teams? Touchy subject for some…..

Pay all players and make it professional? But how would that work? We can assume that you will pay them for a bit but how would it continue as a self sustaining model if you want that. If you pay players, allow a transfer system?

Just pay the intercounty players and have the club game a feeder system? Pay club players? Have an American style draft? Change the club game?

Get rid of the provincial system? The traditionalists will hate you! Keep them and introduce another comp? But it isn't the All-Ireland!

Have a home and away league for the All Ireland? A series of games like Baseball? Do you still like replays?

New rules in Hurling and Football? 2 refs? Make games shorter if there are more matches? Introduce quarters? 4 x 15 mins? You don't need trial games, you can introduce them by just decree!!

Do you let children in free again?!! Or make those pesky kids pay their way? My dad used to say it should be free to get into games and you pay to get out depending on how good the game was!

Yes I am bored and just thought this up for fun on new years eve!! 😄
