What's wrong with this place and censorship?

Just looking there at the CA forum and there was a thread on how the UK is the Sharia capital of the west.

Whether it's an "approved" news source The Times is a legitimate mainstream media. The Telegraph and MSN have stories on it too.

It got locked permanently as the "OP is just link dumping"

It had generated a good discussion on a serious issue whether you are left or right wing. No one wants unofficial Sharia muck here in the West unless you are a lunatic.

Do you not even see how this looks to people? All this type of brushing under the carpet is what emboldens lunatics from all sides.

Absolute for shame cause everyone knows damn well it's just an excuse to lock up a "forbidden" topic

The OP was a link with no explanation or discussion (essentially a red rag), and so the mod was within their rights to close it. Whether there was a good discussion or not is secondary. And I say this as someone who took part in that discussion.

It wasn’t anything to do with censorship. The opening post didn’t get an exception to the rule is all, regardless of its content or whether or not it generated good discussion. Had the OP actually added their own opinion beyond just ‘interesting’ and ‘troubling’, and actually given some context for what the video was about, or expanded on their opinion to foster a discussion, it wouldn’t have fallen foul of the rule prohibiting link dumping.

As it was, calling a country the capital of anything in the West is meaningless, requiring one to watch the video to understand how they were using the term - made no sense otherwise as sharia is not recognised in any legal system in the West, it’s specifically applied to adherents of Islam only, same way any organisation has their own rules which apply only to their own members, like Boards.ie!

Are you saying that If Sonic the Shaghog wanted to, they could start a new thread themselves about 'How the UK is the Sharia Capital of the West' and there wouldn't be a problem, as long as the first post was an actual discussion and not just a link dump?

A new thread was started without any links but tat was closed because the first one was closed!

If you think this place is bad for censorship you clearly haven't seen Reddit where moderators act like coked up tzars. There isn't any feedback subreddits on Reddit, moderators are free to do what they will. I got permabanned for criticizing the IRA bombing of civilians. If this place had better UI and better advert handling it would snap up a lot of traffic.

The funny thing, but boards being 'overmoderated' is often a topic of discussion on Reddit, which I think is partially because moderation is public here. You get to see moderator messages and the highlights of events. In reddit you might just find a forest of [deleted] after a mass scorch event.

I thought the rules were someone would get warned for link dumping.

It seems like an excuse to close the thread.

I am assuming someone can open a new thread on the topic with more than a link dump?

We didn't need yet another thread full of Islamophobia, racism and anti-immigration comments. The moderators are managing enough of those already.

And the OP was a link dump.

This is a private site. Content on this site is controlled by moderators and admins. Any poster who feels strongly enough about any of the topics "censored" here are free to use their own platforms to discuss and debate these topics instead.

    Thread locked.
