New build

I posted here almost a year ago looking for suggestions on a new build for about 2k. Circumstances dictated I couldnt end up doing that build. My current budget is 1k in hand with at least another 500 guaranteed and maybe a further 500 by the end of February. So potentially 2k in total again depending on how much I have to spend.

I mainly use my computer for gaming. Primarily Football Manager but I would like to be able to play higher end games as I no longer have a console (so things like God of War, Ghost of Tsushima etc) so for me while both would be great Im willing to prioritize CPU over GPU.

My current rig I would like to give to my son. Its getting older now but should be a decent starting point for him and what he wants to play.

The only things I wouldnt really need are a keyboard, mouse & monitor as I have those. The only specific requirement Id have is a built in wifi card and future scope as Id like to spend big and not have to rebuy in the future but maybe upgrade/change parts instead of needing to do a full rebuild. I do not need RGB. Practicality is more important for me. I can build myself though Im a little wary of CPU installation and ideally dont have much interest in water cooling.

Below is what was suggested to me last year. Im wondering if this is still the build to go with or should I look at something else that might have come out this year or if prices have come down. Also if anyone has a GPU recommendation to go with it. Willing to buy in pieces so could spend the 1k now and the other 1k as I get it.

There's new GPUs about to be launched in a matter of weeks, that could change things depending on their performance and their prices. So maybe delay committing to anything until then.

Obviously Ill wait on the new GPU announcements but a preference would be a GPU with 3 outputs though not essential

So a little back on forth on some stuff this is what Ive mostly come to if anyone has any opinions on it or suggested changes?

Case: Lian Li Lancool 216 €98.92

    PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W €124.90

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X Processor €369.54

CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 €83.13

    Storage: Lexar NM790 2TB Internal SSD €136.99

    RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz €94.99

    https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0CJ8ZHMVF/ref=ox_sc_act_image_4?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1

MB: GIGABYTE B650 AORUS Elite AX V2 €183.90

    https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0CP17GMG3/ref%3Dox_sc_act_image_5?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1

Total: €1175 including fees & delivery

Two things. I've been reading a lot into the reliability of the Thermaltake PSUs and they apparently aren't very reliable so I was looking at the Corsair as above for about €157. Additionally I dont really know what to do about a GPU. Im likely only spending up to 500 on one regardless of what's announced though I figure that wont get me far

Corsair RM1000e is definitely worth the extra 20eur

RAM you want should be DDR5-6000 MHz with tighter CL30 timings, I see lots of 30-36-36-76 now - e.g. Corsair Vengeance, Vengeance RGB

Liquid Freezer 360 is overkill for a Ryzen CPU. Also, you can get the cheaper 7900 (non-X) that not only has a boxed cooler, but a better out-of-the-box behaviour with cooling.

You always have great advice Kiki. Would you then recommend going for the 7900 over the X and save the €40 on that? Found the CL30s Ram for about a tenner extra.

Just so I can clear it in my head because cooling is not something Im overly familiar with especially when it comes to liquid. Is there then no need to get a cooler for the 7900 if it comes boxed with one or do you recommend something more appropriate. I dont mind spending a little extra for more scope in the future but I also dont mind saving some money here and there if it means I can get a better GPU if it all comes out roughly even

7900 & 7900X perform the same in games & it runs much cooler/uses less power due to being set to 65W at stock.

The AMD Wraith Prism is a good cooler IMHO, only downside is it uses a 92mm fan which won't be as quiet as most 120mm models.

A middle ground would be a 20-25eur tower cooler, e.g. Thermalright Assassin King 120 SE / mini v2. But you can build the 7900 with the included cooler and test if you find it tolerable first, while saving >100eur
