Concrete Driveway Colour Issue

    Hi,

I am looking for support/advice regarding the final coloured finish of our concrete driveway. The work was carried out in 2021 and after some surface crumbling issues we needed to get all the concrete driveway on the side of house from the entrance gate to the grass taken up and re-done in 2022 (see image of crumbling example at the bottom).

We think the contractor shouldn't have done the pouring during heatwave conditions and then they were watering it somewhat when we were told by another contractor afterwards they shouldn't have been watering it that it can dilute the dye and make the surface look patchy and also cause surface crumbling issues. We were only wise to this months after and the contactor who did this work ignored us for a year until we keep putting pressure on him to come back and fix the problem. Since the side got re-done and the crumbling issue is not a thing we have the issue with the colour. It should be a pewter grey (the corner square closest to the colour we were looking for). You can see from the image below I have sealant put on two square sections (1 from 2021 and 1 from 2022 to see could i get colours to match up.) but its not working out.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how a person could go about rectifying it to make the colour of each square more similar. It probably a lost cause at this stage.

Ive added some extra notes below. Im hoping this might help someone else who is thinking of getting colour to be very careful to ensure the contractor has good experience working with dye/colourmix.

The following is the  HATCRETE Colourmix  that was mixed on-site at roadstone:

July 2021 -  During the Heatwave period
Concrete put down on 2 separate days.
1st Part   - Monday 19-July 2021 - the back of the house side got poured and completed. pouring started at lunchtime

2nd Part   - Wednesday 21-July 2021 - the side part of the house got poured and completed. pouring started early morning (see below - photo taken on this day 21-July)

In the following weeks after this we noticed the surface to start crumbling on each of the squares in the above photo (see how the issue looks below) :

Can't you get concrete paint? Going to be work, but if it's annoying you, then maybe it's worth it.

Thanks Mark. Il certainly look into it and see if it's worth going down that route.
