Double payment when switching Gas provider?

I moved from Bord Gáis to Energia on 26 November as the contract was over with Bord Gáis. I provided gas readings to Energia on 26 November.

I just received a final gas bill from Bord Gáis on 9 December and it shows usage until 8 December, although I left them on 26 November.

Do I have to pay double for those units, to both Bord Gáis and Energia?

Because I submitted a gas reading on 26 Nov to Energia and BordGais has charged after that reading.

It often takes a couple of weeks for the switch over to take place. Was the bill on 09th December estimated?

You won't be double charged. The new supplier will get the final reading ( real or estimated) from the old supplier, and start charging from there.

Yes, the bill on 9th Dec is estimated, which is about 100 Units more than what I submitted to Energia upon moving to Energia.

Ok, it's good to hear that BG will send a final gas reading to Energia.

I have a smart electric meter so that was a swift move.
