Sky are scheduled to install a Sky Q and minibox on Thursday. Will they need an active Internet connection to set things up? Darragh knocked our Internet out and it won't be back till Monday approx.

They can’t pair the viewing card without internet access. That might be technically possible with a mobile hotspot if you have coverage but on the other hand the installer might just decide not to go ahead and wait for another day.

Sky Q functionality is severely restricted without internet access, it still works to watch live tv (unlike Stream) but all other functionality like on demand, Sky Sports +, catch up etc won’t work.

Ours was set up before internet access. The main Sky Q box worked to watch live TV and to record. Obviously no on-demand services or Apps. And, of course, the minibox wouldn't work. The installer ran us through how to complete the set up ourselves when the internet was up and running and left us his number to call if we had any queries. We were able to complete it on our own with a few small hiccups. Actually good practice for the occasional times when the mini looses connection.
