I have family arriving later in Dublin airport and I need to collect them. Can I just drive up to arrivals and collect them from outside is there anything/anyone preventing me from doing that?

Normally I’m not driving to the airport so not actually sure ha

Tell them to go to Departures and pick them up there, you can't go to Arrivals without paying for parking.

There is no way to stop outside Arrivals

If you stop outside Departures, or in the bus lanes, for long enough you'll get moved on by Airport Police or fined.

Realistically you need to lurk somewhere nearby - but not outside the terminals or in anywhere else marked for no stopping - and wait for them to tell you they are ready to be picked up from Departures, any waiting around at all is not advisable. Officially, you go park in the short stay.

Just go to the short term multi-storey car park and pay €3.

I normally park up at the viewing area on the old airport road and nip round to departures when they're ready to be picked up.

Track their flight and time your arrival to be there about 10 to 15 mins after they land. Drive up to departures and pick them up. Better they have to wait a few mins for you than you go up way too early and get moved on by airport police.

Last time I picked up (Before summer) I just parked in the short term and its close to terminal. For T1 it was just cross the road outside the entrance then pay for the ticket, enter turn left / right and take the lift to the relevant floor of the car park. Might be worth considering for the sake of a few euro if you needed to leave your car to meet them at the entrance or help them with luggage etc.

Jaysus you'd be doing well to be walking out the door of departures 10-15 mins after landing!

My mother usually always parks at the Applegreen Santry, and I'd usually call her as we arrive to the passport hall and she'd set off for departures (down at the end), where we (as well as many like minded folk) will be waiting.

If your time spent waiting cost less than 3 Euro (parking fee), then why not.

We usually keep an eye on flight, if runnign early wait at Applegreen down from the airport, then once we hit passports ring and they drive up and collect us at Departures. Works a treat for us.

Its more the hassle of getting in and out of it at peak (which is all times now in Dublin airport) is a pain in the hoop, much easier just pick up at departures.

Completely disagree. Plenty of spaces on the top floor. Even peak times is not much of the trouble.
