I can't advise on vlogging cameras specifically. But a few questions: Where are you based? What sort of budget are you looking at? Maybe check reviews on Youtube/Instagram (stories)/Tiktok to get an idea of models.

Thanks, cork. Just wondering if a gopro or similar is suitable or what tweens use. I think 200 would be the limit or is this too little. Again any links or suggestions 🤔

Yeah you could do worse than a GoPro. Well established.

You could also pick up a compatible selfie stick cheap enough at a mobile phone kiosk or similar

The GoPro Hero 11 Mini or even a Hero 9 (still excellent and more budget-friendly) could be great.

You could try a Cex store if there's one near you; could save you a couple of quid. I had a quick browse in our local one recently and they had a go-pro in stock. I wasn't paying any heed to how much they're charging mind.

That’s really thoughtful of you—vlogging can be such a great creative outlet, especially for kids who like to stay busy and express themselves. If you’re looking at something GoPro-like, the GoPro Hero 11 or even the Hero 10 could be great picks. They’re small, durable, and the video quality is solid. Perfect if he’s into action-type stuff or filming on the go.

But if he’s more into sit-down style videos or talking to the camera, you might also want to look at something like the Sony ZV-1. It’s super popular with beginner vloggers, has a built-in mic that’s decent, and the autofocus is really smooth.

Either way, try to get something with good image stabilization and a flip screen—it makes a huge difference when they’re filming themselves.
