HP Elitebook - Dead Screen

Hello all,
Short story long.
HP Elitebook 850 G2 Win 11. Screen dead, but booting.
I connected it to an external monitor via both VGA & Display Port outputs and it works fine. Got a replacement panel, still dead & still displayed to external screen - F4 used to no avail.
Removed CMOS & left it. CMOS reconnected, all as before, no panel, external monitor works.
Got replacement cable & no joy with either old or new panel.
Laptop did sustain damage, as per photo; my initial thought when I saw it (Over Display Port) was that it had fried graphics, but as I said, DP working.
I removed the bottom cover & can't see any obvious damage to the underside of the board in the area of the Display Port.
Scratching my head at this stage!
