    hey experts,

I hope you all are doing well. I am a student of mechatronics engineering, and my semester project is "Web server data display through ESP32." I am following the LCD with the ESP32 tutorial, and half of my project preparation is ready, but I am confused about the ESP32 module.

I am new here and love the frankness of people here. The issue is, people around me do not have much information about the modules (like me, so I just want to buy the right module. I searched and am interested in a board (I can't show the link at the moment), but I am not sure if ESP32 has different types and specifications. I searched about it but want to discuss it with experts. Feeling underconfident😥

all the boards should have basic functionality for LCDs etc. just Identify your requirements

What will your inputs be? Do you need WiFi , Bluetooth etc ?

What will your outputs be ? Is the LCD going to be your only output?

Are you going to be using batteries?

Thanks for the reply. I searched it online for the right pinouts and other details (the product description was not that technical). I feel maybe I am taking it too much on my nerves, but the issue is that my budget does not allow me to experiment on the modules, so I came here and on some other forums to make sure I would buy the right board. My friend has some experience in microcontrollers, and he suggested me right board.

The code is ready, and I know every version of ESP32 has the same code. I am a beginner and IDK if I am taking the right steps or not but my teacher saw the code and said I am doing right. 😁 Wish me luck. With the research, I am able to decide if I am buying the right board and I'll share the project even if I am unsuccessful. This is my first project; therefore, I am more excited. I'll also share the pictures of the ESP32 when I receive it.

I though it would be nice if I added more details since I got only one nice reply, but I want more information. I'm working on a project called Web Server Data Display with the ESP32. The main goal is to set up a simple web server on the ESP32 that shows data from sensors and also displays it on an LCD screen linked to the board. So far, I've successfully followed a tutorial on connecting an LCD to the ESP32, and that part is going really well. Now, I'm turning my attention to getting the web server up and running, and I want to ensure that the module I choose can handle both Wi-Fi connection and the LCD at the same time.

I've been checking out the ESP32 DevKit V1, which I've heard is great for beginners, but I'm not completely convinced it's the best choice for me. I've also seen some other options like the ESP32-WROOM-32 and ESP32-WROVER. From what I've gathered, these have different features, including extra PSRAM or flash memory. I'm wondering, should I focus on getting more memory for future needs, or do you think the DevKit V1 will be enough for this project?

Will your college not pay for the kit ?

I did electronic engineering in Tallaght. ( about 20 years ago , but back then the college paid for all our kit, we just picked what we wanted from a. Radionics’s site)

    Good luck with it

    I'd say you're overthinking it.

Similar to ted, college bought kit I would use - I'd certainly consult the lecturer if possible.
