No Signal

I have been given a Nordmende ARTX24RSM TV (without the manual or even the receipt!) and all I really need it for is the terrestrial stations(rte etc)

When I plug in the power cable and the aerial connecter all I get is "No Signal".

I am using the same aerial as I use on my own tv (a 32" Samsung UE32D5000) and my expectation was that either the stations would have been programmed in from the shop or that I would have to do this myself with an onboard tuner.

When I navigate to the home page using the remote I go to "TV" (which I assume is for getting the terrestrial channels )but I cannot get any further than "No Signal"(even thought the same aerial works on my other tv(it is not a smart tv unlike this new Nordmende)

Aside from my own obtuseness and complete unfamiliarity with smart tvs might it possibly be that the Samsung UE32D5000 has a better receiver ? (as well as the benefit of having all its channels already tuned in)

This new tv (24") is much smaller than the older one.Might I have to invest in a new antenna and cable to get a strong enough signal or is there something very simple I am missing?

Can you do a full factory reset on the TV and set Ireland as the country. If no joy from there I'd suspect a faulty TV.

Impossible to decipher your pictures, but there should be a Settings Menu where you can do an Automatic Scan for channels.

Thanks .Yes I did look at the settings icon but saw nothing like that in there .

I will take another look there again .

Maybe I can take a better pic in the daylight...

That is great.I had another look at the settings button and went to "Installation" where it allowed me to scan automatically for terrestrial channels.

No problem (all of Saoview by the looks of it)

Strangely ,though when I tried to scan satellite it told me to put in the aerial (I had and it was in the LNB socket)

I then connected the tv to my external satellite tuner that I use for my other Samsung tv ,plugging in the hdmi cable and unplugging the direct cable to the aerial from the back of the tv (putting it back into the satellite tuner)

I got all my satellite channels I had been using with the other tv

So it works for satellite via an external tuner but (using the same dish and cable) I can't yet make a scan using the internal tuner in the new tv.

It doesn't make sense to me as running the signal through the external satellite tuner should ,if anything degrade the signal but it works better when I do that.(not for scanning purposes as I would still have to use the remote for the external satellite tuner to do that)

Maybe the connector at the back of the new tv is not "flush" but works better with the external satellite tuner? (even there I have to jiggle it at first)
