Fluorescent Bulb Replacement

Hi,

Have been to a couple of hardwares but can't seem to find a replacement for this bulb. It seems to be a T5, and is 908mm incl pins. Its for under press lighting in the kitchen

Could anyone point me in the right direction to one please? Someone mentioned they are now banned??

Don’t know where you are based but better of to try your nearest electrical wholesaler, typically they sell to the trade or companies but shouldn’t be any issues walking in and getting what you need

These type of tubes are becoming harder and harder to find. Maybe time to consider an LED type replacement.

Change to Led with something like this, most good electrical places should have them or buy online.

Bring the old one to a good electrical shop and they should have it in stock. Or buy off Amazon who have a great returns policy if it's wrong.

As an update, I can't find a replacement bulb anywhere!

I will change the whole unit I think, but want to be able to use the existing hard wire that is already there.

What type of a connection is this

so I can search for the correct type.

Probably can't reuse the connector

A lot of led stuff is supplied with fly leads now

New fitting is usually the correct way to go when updating

Bah, was hoping that wouldn't be the answer 😀

It's a wire that comes from the wall, so will probably have to get an electrician in to change it.

Ah the diy curse has struck

Mains inaccessible and only proprietary connector protruding

You could add another mains join but it's still a bodge ,hate when people do that

A simple job yet a basic error made

Probably didn't even realize he was doing it wrong due to lack of awareness of electrical work

How would an electrician remedy it? Will it need tiles taken out etc?

Maybe they're inside the above presses there if they are you're ok

If not, then use a surface mounted joint box to take the existing wires, cutting off the old plug and then mount the new light fitting below/alongside the box. That would be the safest way of joining the existing wires to the new.

Turn the power off and cut the wire at the connector and just join it with a junction box to the new lights cable and screw it into the underside of the cupboard. If you can wire a plug you can do that. If unsure get an electrician. Something like this.
