    Hi,

I am trying to plan out a CCTV and calving camera system for our two farm yards. Currently we just have a stand alone calving camera and cheap IP camera in the “old” yard (yard 1) but have now built a second yard (yard 2) about 500 metres away and I now want to properly kit both out with CCTV and add a calving camera to the new shed.

I have connected the two yards with a Ubiquiti airmax wireless bridge that has (in theory) >450mbs throughput.

My question is can I put say 4 cameras in yard 2 (powered with their own PoE switch) and the rest in yard one and locate the NVR in yard 1 and have a system that functions well? If so will any standard NVR+camera setup function or do I need something more specialised - I think every camera normally has an input so guessing it’s not standard what I want. I am assuming remote access will not be an issue it is the NVR functionally I am not sure about. I will be doing all the install myself. Thanks.

Yes, you can pull the streams to the NVR from yard 2 if on the same network.

Remote access is through the NVR on the network also

Put up a photo of existing NVR, front and back and make and model etc.

Many brands like to only use their brands of cameras and other brands may not work at all or features may not work

Many CCTV systems have a limit to the number of cameras they can handle.

I haven't purchased anything yet but leaning towards a UniArch 8 Channel NVR. There is a budle on freetv.ie with the NVR (+2TB storage) and 6 x 5mp turret cams. I would buy a separate Uniarch PTZ camera then as a cavling camera. The only non uniarch product would be the existing Dauha PTZ calving camera but if that couldn't be added to the NVR not a big deal.
