Attic conversion, attic, Wicklow Area

    Hi all,

    I'm looking to convert my attic and at the moment I've gotten two quotes, one for 37 and second for 44k.

    I just wanted to see if these are the realistic prices nowadays and if there's anyone who could recommend a reliable company who are doing these works.

    hey, how’d you get on with this? What was the final cost estimate., did you have to go for planning?


    I have an already converted bungalow with 2 beds rooms upstairs. I want to change 3x pairs of velux windows into 3x dormers, for a little more room space but mostly to take advantage of sea views


    two of them will be to the front of the property so I need planning. But 6 out of the 12 houses in my estate have basic single dormers already so hopefully I should be a shoo in for this. Average planning takes less than 60 days for dormers in this area.

    Anyone have a guess at the cost? No rooms need building, it’s purely removing velux and siting 3x dormers into a slate roof. Finishing and airtightness inside. We are about to do attic insulation as part of a retrofit at the same time but I’m just looking for cost of the dormers and a suggestion of a good local attics team.

    I’m guessing it’s €15k each but I hope there is some saving as the rooms are pre-existing already.
