Hi lads, anyone know a way to be able to access and download an app from the UK store (non-paid for). I think that not having an active UK payment card (and potentially a functional UK mobile number for 2 factor auth) is a stumbling block that I cannot overcome.

I’ve a uk App Store account along with my iown account that’s obviously set up here, I was able to use both my Irish phone number and my Revolut card for payment, I don’t actually think I needed to add a card now that I think of it. I set it up so as I could download iPlayer app on to my phone.

hey Aquos, longtime no speak. Hope all is good in your camp. Not sure how long ago you set up the uk account but I can see no way by today. I can put in a uk random phone number (and I’m not even sure if that will be an issue with 2FA later on had I been able to continue but as for the payment details, NONE is not an option anymore that I can see and it fails on any card I have. Perhaps they’ve just tightened up their security.

Oh right, I would have that UK account a good few years now alright. I was able to make a US account on Tuesday evening and I set it up with my Irish number and didn’t add a payment card. The account is set up now and it does work as I logged in to a brand new iPhone 16 pro max on it to try out the AI features and they are working. I’ve since reset the phone again and am now back using it without any AI content with my proper Irish Apple ID. I’d continue on my new American one if I could, but it would mess up the family sharing we have going on. I’ll just have to wait for Apple to get their finger out with the EU and wait for it to be launched here.

I have a similar query, is it possible to create a new Apple ID with, say UK, as country, then download apps to phone, then log in with original Apple ID and use those apps?

None that I can see. You'll be hit with both phone number and bank card obstacles, both of which will have to be UK.

You can of course. Indeed iOS is much better in recent years for app updates also. When an update is required for a non-Irish Appstore app, you just have to put in the password of that account. Multiple app stores work well for free apps but will require UK or US Apple gift cards to top-up those stores for paid apps. Virtual versions of these cards are available from CDKeys and other sites.

So how do you bypass the Card details section ? Even if your intention was to only download free apps, 'No Card' is not an option.

I already said you can purchase gift cards for other countries from various websites.
