Would we be best if RTE went down to one TV station and one radio station?

There's a fair bit of sh!t on RTE TV and 2FM. Why not axe 2FM completely and just try to improve Radio one a little bit with more public service stuff, maybe a few less chat shows and a bit more current affairs. Also there is no need for RTE TV to be showing the likes of series such as Yellowstone or Blue Bloods or movies, which are available elsewhere. Just focus on current affairs and Irish sport, some Irish drama but leave the foreign made entertainment shows to the commercial sector.

RTE have ~8 radio stations, cutting 2FM would not bring them to one.

The imported shows generally make money from advertising, so your cut to one channel would be one dearer to run channel (and would remove the current affairs outlet of the RTE News channel)

No we need rte 1 and 2 tv I think 2fm is totally unnecessary in the age of music streaming and we have plenty of pop radio stations.

Rte makes Irish dramas and shows sports soccer games and shows many UK and USA tv shows .

Not everyone has cable tv or broadband so there's a good reason to show USA tv dramas and films no subscription needed
