Best option for a key one side, thumb knob the other side for an internal door?

We have a door that leads to the garage that we would like the option of locking from house side with a knob and if it did get locked it would require a key from the garage side to open. Does such a thing exist?

Currently it has a standard internal door handle setup, with a key hole either side. But if the door is locked from the inside (house side) with a key, unless the key is removed, it cant be unlocked from the outside even with a key. I know its easy to say "Just remove the key" but I wan't to eliminate human error from the equation if possible! The ideal situation would be handles with a bathroom lock on inside, and a key hole the other, but I don't think this exists?

Not opposed to adding a secondary lock and just removing the current key from the equation if something suits. Something like a nightlatch sort of suits, but I don't want the door to automatically lock like it would with a night latch. Again you could use the snib (never heard of this word before!) to hold back the latch, but this again falls into human error and would probably be a bigger risk than just removing the key.

Any suggestions?

The internal door handles with thumb turns I see all seem to have a mechanism the far side that could be opened with a coin or something, not a key hole.

You are going to need an external grade lock really, as all the internal ones are bathrooms ones like you say and can be opened with a coin or screwdriver, what you want definitely exists but it might involve a little bit of modification to the door to install the lock.

Thanks all, from your suggestions I realized how little of a deal it was to change the cylinder locks on external doors and ended up solving the overall problem we were having (that it was possible to lock ourselves out even with a key) by replacing one of the external doors with a thumbturn cylinder. Took 2 minutes to do.

We got a locksmith out to replace the locks on the doors when we moved in a few years ago and I'm disgusted how easy it was to replace them! I can't remember how much we paid but I'm sure it wasn't worth the 10 minutes it would have taken me 😅
