I’m in search of a laptop for a student but am kinda clueless. Hoping I can get some advice here of what to get that’s decent but doesn’t break the bank! Have seen this one, any thoughts please?? TIA

You should look at the RAM and processor. I think Dell do good deals

What does the student want to use the laptop for - what are they studying / are there any recommended specifications by the course they are studying?

Decide how much you wanna pay, look at the Dell website and see what is the best processor and highest amount of RAM you can get for your money. Also look at the screen sizes.
