Can anyone tell me if any clear shoe polish will do as a release agent when bedding a rifle action. Kiwi seems to be gone off the market.

Yes any shoe polish will do fine. Put it on the action everywhere and buff it off

As Clive says, any shoe polish will do, Kiwi is the best. Most use a clear/light polish as it dosen't stain the surrounding wood/bedding. Put numerous coats on metal before installing action in stock.

A silicon based oil should also work, in theory.
