Technique interventions and their uses

Hi there,

I need help remembering a particular technique within the realm of psychology/psychiatry I think is mostly if I remember used in situations were the person maybe subjected to begining to or is in a psychotic break, so I'm going to try and explain the outline of the technique, method etc

So it involves the use of particular topics referenced in conversation around the individual to evoke a response from the topic/s they have referenced that the persons performing the task believe the topic will on some level to the person evoke mainly a response of paranoia so as a particular checklist symptom can be identified

OR

The use of Varing people, around said as above with insignias to particulars ie educational settings, work place etc placed at interviews under time and place in the person presence as also to evoke a response to test for paranoia.

I understand that at least in one field it is widely used (the technique) and/or (Method) I'm actually having difficulty recalling what the technique is called or method or where you would search to find out more information.

Can anyone help.
