I searched but didn’t see any thread but apologies if there is and just ignore delete mods.

Here’s a list of Irish Christmas markets with dates and times - feel free to post your fav market in Ireland Europe or whatever and let us know how you got on this year

I’m gonna try to get to the Kilkenny market - any tips or past experiences welcome.

The Galway market was so-so for me through the years - I can’t remember if I saw it last year but certainly it would need to be a big improvement for me to go out of my way to go again

Galway Christmas Market opening this evening - hopefully some folk will attend this weekend and report back on what it’s like.

Thanks I’ve been to a few of them through the years - awaiting verdicts of 2024 - Galway reviews should be in over next few days as that appears to be the first to kick off

There's a one day pop up Christmas market this year in the Glenroyal hotel in Maynooth on Sunday December 1st. :)

Manchester not getting a great review - I hope the Irish ones will fare better once they open - besides a hotdog and a beer I don’t think I’ve ever purchased anything at a Christmas market so they wouldn’t want to be relying on me to do well

construction of the Smithfield market at advanced stage - kicking off 25th. November - 11am-9pm daily - I reckon this will be very popular - it’s certainly a decent sized area

Dublin Castle kicks off 28th November - have never gone so might try and go this year- some guidance if attending:

    Attendees should note:

    • No parking is permitted on the grounds, active travel is encouraged.
    • This is a free ticketless event.
    • Capacity will be monitored, so there may be queues during busy periods.
    • The yard is accessible, but there are cobblestones.
    • Entrance for the public is through the lower courtyard, via Palace Street.
    • Exit for the public is via Castle Street.
    • The event is subject to license by the authorities.

Cashless transactions are preferred on site.

I work about 5 minutes from Dublin Castle, so will mosey over some evening for a wander about. It's a pretty small market though, so even if you take your time, ramble around, check out all the stalls and get food, you'd still be done in less than half an hour!

I work in the castle so I'll be checking it out* multiple times a week so I enjoy the buzz but the carousel music goes through my skull.
