Morning - have some questions would greatly appreciate any advice / help support

I do not have an existing gaming pc (i.e. nothing to upgrade etc) and want to spec out a high end gaming pc that will give me a few years and allow me play all the most recent games? My budget is 2 to 2.5k and I need PC / Monitor and keyboard / mouse?

Obviously my initial thoughts are do I buy pre-build or build myself which I am open to - I think I can easily secure my own windows license

    Again appreciate the advice!

Pre-built always adds another 300-500 in cost that is better spent building yourself.

Also be aware that new high-end graphics cards are releasing around January 2025.

    Example high-end build for 2025:

    PCPartPicker Part List: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/Qk8BDj

Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard (€146.16 @ Amazon Deutschland)

Leaves lots of money for keyboard & mouse, which is pure preference. I love my Lamzu x FNATIC Thorn but that's because I have big hands & prefer an ergo shape. The Maya / Maya X are excellent, too.

Thanks so much for taking time to pull this together - should I be concerned about this message on partpicker?

Compatibility: Warning! These parts have potential issues or incompatibilities.

The message is explained below the list and the "issue" here is that the cpu is newer than the motherboard so you need to update the board's firmware before it will really work. The ASRock B650M Pro RS Wifi has a "bios flashback" button which means you can update the bios even without a cpu installed so it's not a problem. You will need a usb stick and access to any PC/laptop to put the new firmware on it.

The 9800X3D is newer (days old) than any boards available so it's unavoidable with that cpu unless you wait a while, either until a new board is released or until you can be sure the board you buy was manufactured recently enough to come with a good firmware and even then it's usually a very good idea to update the firmware to the latest version as the first thing you do. ASRock actually say the 9800X3D will boot on that board if the firmware is newer than May so it might even boot depending how long the board you get has been sitting on the shelves in Amazon but you really want the latest which was released just under 2 weeks ago even if it booted out of the box.

For anyone with the budget (which you have) the 9800X3D is the clear obvious and best choice so I'm not even going to think about suggesting alternatives.

It's not so much what's recommended as what's in stock somewhere that will ship here, coupled with how much you want to spend and what, if any, aesthetics work for you. Here's some of the usual common options:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08C7BGV3D

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09V878FXQ Note this one from memoryc won't deliver as quickly but see the last line for why that might be a problem for you!

    https://www.memoryc.com/52536-lian-li-lancool-215-midi-tower-black-transparent.html

Give some clues vis-a-vis how much your wallet is willing to cough up and what sort of looks you might like or not if you want to try and encourage some other suggestions. I didn't really look at the cheaper non-premium brands for this one given your reason is an easier build and it's far from a budget build ;)

Of course it seems there weren't very many 9800x3d cpus in the initial release and they were snapped up fast so you might be gorssly overpaying or waiting a while for one to appear.
