Advice on fixing a chewed cable for PSVR2

My dog chewed through the PSVR 2 cable this morning. This is the main cable from the headset to the console. The headset turns on (I get the red and white lights on the headset, and it flashes a PS logo on screen for asecond, but then nothing else appears on screen).

The damage is exactly in the middle of the cable and when I peak in, it looks like one (maybe two) of the internal cables are cut but it's not completely cut through everything.

I got on to Sony and they consider this a "non-detachable" part so they don't sell it. I dug through reddit and ifixit and no one seems to be able to source this part.

It does actually disconnect with a small bit of opening of the headset, but because it uses a proprietary connector that sems unique to Sony I can't find a replacement anywhere.

So now I need to see if it is possible to cut back the cable and connect it back up? Has anyone done this type of fix-it job before? Any products out there that might help.
