Quick question about splitting power

    Hi there…

i am doing some some work with 5V LEDs and I want to split the power wires so that I can do 4 parallel circuits instead of 1 long series circuit. I was thinking something like the "Wago lever splice connector 221 Series 221-415 5 way terminal" would do this for me. Well, two of them, one for the + wire and one for the - wire.

Firstly, am I right in thinking that if I put the input wire into one of those ports, then I can put an output wire into each of the other ports and effectively split the power into 4?

Next, is there a better solution for this, considering I'm just using 5V and don't need something that could take 240V? The smaller the better as I am trying to fit this into a small space. I have no idea/experience with this stuff, hence the probably stupid questions!

    Thanks in advance…

    That connector will work.

Soldering them all together is the smallest method.

If you're worried about soldering then you can use these. Get them from Halfords or most motor factors.

Just twist the wires together into a bundle, push it into this connector and use a lighter to heatshrink the tube and melt the solder.

Thanks for your reply! I wouldn't be soldering a lot, but I am comfortable enough to solder a few wired together. I am just trying to find the tidiest way of doing it, and it feels like soldering one wire to four different wires will be a bit messy, you know?

Actually, a thought occurred to me, I could also get a smaller, 3 connector one, put the input into one of the slots and two outputs each into the other two slots (it's thin wire so it will fit) and that gives me a 1-4 split using a smaller connector.
