    Hi everyone,

I am not working at the moment, but got a verbal offer on Monday for a permament call centre job. I accepted and was told I would get an email with the contract etc etc.

I still haven't received it. I followed up with HR yesterday and was told not to worry that I would get it. The company has some internal processes to go through before sending the offer. What do I do if I don't get contract by tomorrow - just not show up on the Tuesday. I haven't been given any info about start time etc.

I checked the company website and it is legit and a well known brand. I can't find the hiring manager or HR on Linkedin. Am beginning to think the whole thing is very odd. I have always had a contract within a day or two after an offer. I had a video call with hiring manager. The job is on their website. What do you think.

Legally they aren't required to give you even the core terms of employment in writing until the fifth day of employment, and the full contract doesn't have to be given until a month after starting. Given that it's a call centre, the work environment is probably not going to be the most pleasant or well-managed, so it's not terribly surprising that they're taking their sweet time to get things together. I'd reach out to HR again and ask what time you're meant to be there on your first day, and definitely don't no-show, or they will likely rescind the job offer without a second thought; call centres generally have zero tolerance for any level of less-than-perfect attendance.

Thanks, I had no idea. I haven't worked in a call centre for years, so I wasn't aware of this. They told me the salary verbally but have absolutely nothing in writing. I'll email HR and hiring manager to ask about start time
