Just wondering if there were apps available that would just allow you input shot details from your round rather than having to rely on GPS devices and other hardware.

Golf Pad is a good app to use

Golfshot is also free (or has a free version). Fairly basic but would give some level of stats

SwingU is the way forward. I have a GPS watch but I keep the app around to study courses before I play them. Free version is okay but the subscription version looks great.

I used Hole19, and then moved to GolfPad, as i hoped it would make tracking easier. Rather than having to input each stroke into your phone or watch, you just tap the tag on the end of your club (sold separately from the app) and that's it!

In theory it works, and the app itself is excellent, the issue I had was that I kept forgetting to tap the tag! So in the end i went back to Hole 19. Its strength was the ease of inputting your stats at the end of each hole. Must try Swingu next!

I mostly just want to track and trend my misses into greens on par 3s and 4s with irons and wedges, long left or short right etc to see what is currently my most consistent miss.

Would say if you wanted do that, a shotscope watch with tracking tags in your clubs is probably the way forward. I have one and it captures all of that data.

Yeah that's the ideal scenario but the funds are not there. Thats why i was looking for something that that doesn't rely on tech.

That's fair enough. SwingU is a good bet but it would require you to record every shot manually which involves a lot of effort. I played a round without my watch recently and used the app to record the length of my tee shots.

The app stays open automatically during the round. I had to specify which club I was using and switch on shot tracking, walk to my ball, switch off the track and then repeat process for every shot.

If you're like me, then that is almost 100 times a round which is a fair bit of work. But it would definitely be the most cost-effective option if you aren't looking to purchase anything extra like tags etc.

I'm usually able to replay a round in my head afterwards. I wouldn't be too focused on distances just if it's back of the green or front etc. Nothing too exact, I would just like to see a trend.

    Thanks for the info.

I'm very interested in knowing about options too, but not the watch that only lasts one round, that won't do me when I get a day pass and get two rounds in, not interested in any subscription service either
