Quite a number of changes coming into effect across Meath on the Transport for Ireland (TFI) public service obligation (subsidised) routes over the next few weeks.

First off is a brand new route beginning tomorrow (Mon 21st Oct, 2024) linking Gibbstown and Headfort to Kells and continuing onwards via Moynalty, Mullagh, Virginia, Ballyjamesduff and Crosskeys to Cavan Town. It will be operated by Local Link Cavan Monaghan.

Good to see the route though it could do with a few more stops - for instance at Oristown, Sedenrath Cross/ Fyanstown and Dulane Cross.

From next Sunday (27th) Bus Éireann route 109B (Trim - Kilmessan- Dublin) will be extended to Kildalkey and Athboy.

From the same date Bus Éireann 187 (Kells - Oldcastle) will commence its new routeing to Oldcastle and Virginia via Drumbaragh, Crossakiel, McGee's Cross and Ballinlough. There will be six services each way daily and a Sunday service for the first time. A schooldays Virginia - Kells service will continue to run along the N3 at the same times as at present (08:07 ex Virginia and 16:00 ex Kells).

The four route 103 buses a day that extend beyond Ratoath through Curragha to Emerald Park will no longer do so and only route 105 (Drogheda - Blanchardstown) will serve Emerald Park.

The NX will no longer leave the city via Dorset Street - instead via Broadstone and Phibsboro Shopping Centre.

Similarly the 103 from Dublin to Ashbourne/Ratoath will no longer exit via Mountjoy Square, Dorset St. and Whitworth Road. Instead via Broadstone and Phibsboro Shopping Centre.

Also some minor changes to timings on the 111, 109s etc…

Full details and revised timetables can be found on the Bus Éireann and Local Link Cavan Monaghan websites.
