The cottage will have 300mm on ceilings + 150 mm external + new windows/doors. Which heating best gas or oil or Mitsubishi air to water heat pump ? The cottage maybe empty for 6 months of the during winter - so then is the heat pump a bad idea as it be heating house and nobody there? Thanks

Is there radiators or underfloor already installed?

You could do a heat pump, but in those circumstances I would go for oil or gas. By the sounds of it the heating requirements will be very low.

Thks - no underfloor - I need to put in new rads + pipes. For Oil boiler + new rads I getting quotes 15k + cost to cut floor for pipes + cost of oil tank - so probably be close to 20k - which is a lot of money…

If the house is expected to be unoccupied for most of the winter, you could consider some of the modern electric radiators.

More expensive to run than oil, but the install cost would likely be less than half.

    Something like ATC iLifestyle.
