Lavazza beans vs ground

Hi all.

I have been drinking ground Lavazza in my AeroPress and it's my coffee of choice. I was wondering would be a any noticeable difference in buying a grinder (thinking Baratza Encore) and grinding Lavazza beans?

I am aware there are probably better / nicer coffees out there, but I've tried a lot and keep coming back to Lavazza!

Generally it's a pretty discernible difference, but Lavazza is a pretty dark roast profile, so might be hard to tell. Worth just getting someone else to grind them for you, and trying them in your Aeropress before you invest in a grinder. You could do a blind taste test!

Surprised you can't find anything better than Lavazza for your Aeropress. It kind of lends itself to lighter roasts (than espresso), and certainly fresher beans, but you're typically looking at €10-€13 per 250g bag rather than the €5-€6 you're probably paying for Lavazza. Always best to stick with what you like though.

CoffeeWorks CELBRIDGE does a kg deliveredFor €30-32 a kg ie 7.50-8 a 250g bag ( be wary many companies have shrunk 250-240-227-200 grams etc …..)that will blow the stock Lavazza out of the water .

Grinder important also though but not nearly as important as the beans

Great idea re: getting someone with a grinder to gind some beans and give it a go - will try that.

I appreciate there are probably nicer & better coffees out there, but I have tried a lot, but keep coming back to Lavazza. I find other coffees a bit light for me - I like a dark & strong coffee. My taste buds are probably blown, but it floats my boat!

You'd actually get away with a hand-grinder if you're just grinding for the aeropress. A Hario will set you back around €38.
