Replacing Underfloor Heating Actuator

    Hi lads,

Looking for some help here. In a new build with UF heating. Everything working great except one of the actuators (thing that sits on the pin to push it up and down) is broken and causing one of the rooms to heat up well beyond the set temperature. The red piece in the centre is loose and failing to control the pin and thus the temperature.

I purchased a new one but just wondering it’s a SIY job or if I need to get someone in? I can isolate the control box to where it’s powered from but my main concern is when I turn it all back on will it just function as normal? Attached an image of the piece I’m talking about.

Seems a straightforward job but don’t want to be left without heating for the weekend either’! Thanks.

May be missing something here but if you are replacing like with like and the pin is moving okay then u just replace the top, white piece

Hi mate, yes that’s correct. Sorry, probably didn’t word it correctly. I’m replacing the white actuator bit. Not the pin or valve itself. Should be straightforward

Well you have 1/3 of the job done already.

Isolate power to the wiring centre, swop out old for new, screw the actuator back in place, restore power.

Our wet underfloor system was installed in 2001. Some of the actuators are staying open even when thermostats are not on. Just wondering would it be sensible to replace all actuators rather than having to do them one by one as they fail. I suspect their 23 year age is probably about their life expectancy.

I am in a similar boat. I have 2 rooms upstairs that are are not heating. I checked the valves and plastic part of tje actuators and seem fine. I noticed little pin was stiff and very jerry when pulled with pliers. Might this be the reason?
