Hi everyone, just wondering if I am eligible to apply to open competition roles in civil service while I am currently a civil servant and still on probation please?

Yes, absolutely. Your probation will most likely revert back to the start again though.

Only if you change grades, it shouldn't if you stick to the same grade. Someone on my current team had 8 months in another office as an EO and it's been carried over… Speak to HR before accepting the position and all that I suppose.

Do i have to go to probation again and will i be still on the same point on scale/penson or do i revert back to point 1

I had heard that any entrant through an open competition automatically restarts their probation.

Perhaps this is only when it's the same grade, but different my role / job title (ie: IGEES AO moving to general stream AO).

Its only right you commence probation from day 1 again irrespective of if you remain the same grade but for example are moving to a specialist role.
