This has been covered by some of the mainstream media over here, such as the Telegraph and the Daily Mail, but it's doesn't appear to be getting that much attention. In short, Iranian border guards have reportedly killed dozens of Afghans in a massacre as they attempted to enter the country. Link below to one of the article that are not behind a pay wall. Brutal.....but normal for that regime.

Nope, ditto for the UN or any world leaders. The Islamic Republic has said that it hopes to achieve two million deportations by March next year. Barely gets a mention in this part of the world either.

Until someone finds a way to blame Israel it won't gain much interest.

None of RTÉ, Sky or the BBC have the story as of 30 minutes ago so….just checked there, Sky still have nada.

It’s important that countries have the ability to control their own borders thus controlling the welfare and wellbeing of their citizens… not suggesting riddling people with bullets is the optimal solution in the reported scenario but if people use illegal, aggressive / violent tactics, to plough past security, police, military or border agents…. None of whom will have knowledge of any of these people’s intentions…. It’s pretty probable that there will be a violent end….. Apply to enter like civilised people….nobody gets killed.

Iran has a refugee program for over 4 decades…. So…. Not like it’s unwilling in its stance to help.

Because as bad as Iran is, it's better than Taliban controlled Afghanistan for a vast number of Afghans. Same reason they enter Pakistan, Tajikistan & Uzbekistan. Not so many entering China given the strength of the border and the treatment of Muslims there.

On the topic of the OP, there has also been very recent cross border clashes between Iran and Afghanistan, with Iran launching strikes across the border in 2021 & 2023.

Adding wiki links for brevity, some decent sources in the footnotes.
