The Better Energy Homes grant for the upgrade of roof insulation is available for apartments, only where the roof of the apartment seeking grant aid is a heat loss roof (i.e. a roof exiting to the outside or a cold/unheated attic space).

SEAI have recently received a number of queries from BER Assessors regarding applications for Attic insulation grant assistance for an apartment which is not a top-floor apartment and where the roof does not contain a heat loss element. In some cases, homeowners have had their grants declined and contractors have faced de-registration as a result.
