Eir router in bridge mode

    Hi,

Current setup eir fibre to eir f3000 router. LAN cable to Linksys ea9500 triband router in bridge mode with eir fibre box.

Eir fibre box settings wifi disabled, dhcp off , bridge mode enabled , 192.168.1.254

Linksys router internet connection auto dhcp. local network 192.168.111.1 , dhcp server enabled192.168.111.100

The question is Speedtest when using eir fibre box wifi ssid (before bridge mode) gets near package 500/50Mbps down/ up. When connect to bridged wifi ssid (5ghz) I only get 220/40Mbps. Using the same laptop and location beside router(s). why can I not get similar bandwidth as eir feed in on bridged linksys router?? Is bridge mode affecting the bandwidth speeds? or another setup issue. 2.4Ghz/5Ghz bands using channels 13 and 100 and -35/-33dBm signal strength respectively with no network overlap (free wifi analyser scan) Thanks for any recommendations. btw using Linksys router to get better coverage throughout the house.

Can you not try using the linksy direct, it must be capable of vlan 10 and see if that makes a difference.

    is this the one

hang on a mo, do you have an ONT socket installed by the eir router?? 500mbs is fibre to the home.

Yes eir ont near router(s). oddly just did another speed test with no changes to setup on 5ghz wifi (like before) and got 486/48!! repeat tests were fluctuating anywhere from 220-480 down???

The ont means you don't need a modem the F3000 is only a router, you can plug the TP directly into the ONT but you have to configure the Vlan on the TP and I dont have a TP. I use an ASUS.

This is the LINKSYS VLAN router option I have. Maybe a similar setting to your ASUS? Depending on which profile is picked the setting auto change some samples included including both for vlan id 10

😲😲😲 mine is not as fancy as that, all I did was click on LAN then selected iptv and entered, manual vlan 10 and apply.

I did a google and found this, don't understand the untagged bit, you may have to do trial and error. I always fancied a linkys.

I forgot to add router may come with some presets like QOS , parental controls etc and these have been know to affect speeds.

That is some router so let us know how you get on.

Here is a pic of my settings and this is all I had to do after inputting PPPOE bits.

Thanks, when I get a chance will try have a go and trialling config. surprising settings are not available on the internet somewhere. speeds seem to be good at present so guess no urgency but nice to remove unneeded device if can.

Most ISP's won't publish the settings as they want everyone to just use the router they supply so that's all they have to support.

I have moved from eir to VF to Pure back to eir and then Pure. All I had to do was run cable from ont to wan port reboot and it connected. I got the ASUS a few years back and was told on here how to add vlan. Have a look at the inernet setup on the F3000 and it may show you what you need. Here are 2 pics of the config from the ASUS and note I still have vodafone showing but everything works. I'm with pure for another 12 months. Hope it helps.

Also when you add Vlan 10 and click apply router may connect automatically.
