Hi all, looking for recommendations on GPS fence for large dog, living 70 meters from main road, was out in middle of it tonight .

    What do you guys use?

Long and short answer is get a proper fence instead. The problems with a gps fence are multiple; first of all it simply does not work in many cases and if the dog gets outside it because "insert interesting thing out there" it chased after then it refuses to come back inside it. Hence between the number of dogs in rescues with said gps collars, the trauma it causes in dogs and the fact it's a gamble the answer is get a proper fence and fence in a smaller area if needed.

Nody said exactly what I came on to say. Your dog is already interested inthe main road & he's big, so presumably strong. You'll think the GPS fence has him sorted, & it will...until something too interesting to resist runs past his nose & he runs after it, through the "fence" & can't get back in even if that is his reaction, which in the panic of pain or fear & the heightened adrenalin of his chase, it won't necessarily be.

Save your money & get a physical fence or even better hire a reputable dog trainer to come to your house, survey your set up, train you & your dog, & advise you on the best way to keep him from wandering. If you're willing to listen to them & put in a bit of training time with the dog, the cost will pay you back in spades.
