Stop watching Euronews

I just wanted to say people from Ireland should stop watching Euronews. Euronews on their weather forecasts ignore Ireland like we don't exist. Ireland has been ignored long enough so I feel it's time we as a country ignore these channels. Don't waste any of your viewing time on Euronews. They care about every part of Europe except Ireland. It's such an insult. Euronews should be on nobody in Ireland's radar because they clearly don't care about us and don't recognise we exist and recognise England who aren't even part of the EU above us and when I mean above us the UK and their capital London is one of the first on the map and Ireland gets ignored completely like we don't exist and it's an obsolute disgrace. There isn't one mention of even Dublin, we get nothing and it's like we're invisible. So forget about Euronews because to them, people of Ireland , we don't matter even one iota clearly.

If you want a weather forecast OP, get it from Met Eireann.

As Fr Tod said look at Met Eireann or even TG4.No need to check up on Euronews at all unless you want European news. The UK still has status as far as Europe is concerned-for business especially and tourist traffic secondly.Ireland no way near as much.BBC,ITV,Channel4,Sky treat Ireland the same.

Euronews is pretty poor for everything not just the weather.

I find the UK Met Office channel on YouTube provides excellent and accurate forecasts for Ireland - even though they don't specifically mention Ireland.

There's no way on earth hat BBC and ITV treat Ireland with the same disregard as Euronews. Quite the opposite in fact.

I watch Euronews quite a deal to get some inkling about what's going on in the EU principally because RTE gives such little coverage to European affairs. I find programmes like Witness ,Brussels My Love and State of the Union quite informative apart from the news segments which also include wider global coverage.

Not sure what's going on with the weather forecast angle as I never take any interest in it but there are quite a few Irish presenters working for the station as it happens . Seems a rather trivial criterion on which to judge a station.

On the question of RTE -I think there should be regular weekly programmes on European matters to enlighten Irish listeners about what is transacted in the arena which produces so many policies and regulations that affect our lives. There should be more interaction with our MEPs . Many of them seem to disappear off the radar as soon as they're elected -I have no idea what the half of them are doing or thinking.

Just as a final point I would like to know how many irish MEPs have competence in any Continental European language -especially French , German , I would have it as a requirement for candidacy. Don't anyone tell me that English is enough. You need to know the other languages to get under the surface and read newspapers , journals and editorials and chat to people in bars and hotels to feel the real vibe. Swapping statements in English in bureaucratic environments is only part of the story.
