Wage Subsidy Scheme

What is your partners income limit on WSS? I'm currently receiving Partial Capacity (100% but currently being reviewed) + 20 hrs a week min wage. I was told yesterday that the company can no longer employ me as I am taking too long to do things, losing fees. I looked into this a while back and my wife was over the limit.

The wage subsidy scheme is a grant for employers not employees. The employee is paid in the normal way by the employer, for your purposes it is your partners full normal weekly wage that is taken into account for your payment if it’s means tested. I’m not familiar with partial capacity but if your employment is winding up do you not just go back on invalidity pension? Invalidity pension is not means tested.

See I would be classified as being "profoundly" disabled and receiving 100% of PCB but am under pressure at work to do more. Currently getting 20 hrs min wage + 100% of PCB.

My understanding of WSS previously is that if I moved back to Disability, my weekly payment would be reduced because of my wives wage.

I'm not at all sure what you are are trying to ascertain, The WSS ended quite some.

No Dempo, the wage subsidy scheme is for employers that have employees with reduced productivity due to a disability or illness. It’s still in operation, it’s a different thing from the Covid scheme for all employees.

The scheme doesn’t make any difference to the ops payment though so not even necessary to mention it as I was confused about what was being asked.

OP if you move to Disability Allowance, your payment will be means tested the same way as anyones who is on DA. You would need to give us your wage amount and your wife’s in order to calculate it for you.

Your own wage is means tested on DA as well as your wife’s.

There are some changes coming to the WSS in January, it will be extended to include people on partial capacity but are you only permitted to work 20 hours on that payment? Is that the issue you are having?

According to citizens info you can work as many hours as you wish on partial capacity. If that’s accurate I would see can your employer hold out til January and then they should be able to claim the wage subsidy for you.

That's exactly what I am working right now, 20hrs on min wage, plus I get partial capacity at 100%

I'm being put under a great deal of pressure by employer, to the point that I may have been given my notice yesterday. Being on the WSS would really benefit. It may offer more job security and less pressure on me.

Maybe make your employer aware that from January they can claim the wage subsidy for you. Without knowing your wife’s income it’s possible that you’d lose out on a good bit of money on DA. I’m not sure you’d get back on partial capacity if you switched to DA. There is a very long backlog as well for DA applications to be processed, you would likely be waiting well into the new year, up to 6 months. January is only 2 and a half months away. You will be entitled to be on WSS then when the planned changes come into effect. You would then have no reduction in your payment from social welfare, the employer would have a financial benefit from keeping you in your job and you could work as many hours as you want.

The minimum hours required to work on the WSS is now 15. There is no upper limit of hours you can work on partial capacity so you can do more hours now for your employer if you are able and that is what they are pushing for. They will have to wait until Jan though to claim the wage subsidy grant for you.
