Our windows are 26yr old PVC double glazed. Handles and hinges are in perfect condition .

We are considering replacing the windows.

Our neighbour has just replaced the glass in his and is very pleased with it.

Has anyone any and experience/ advice in this area.

We have asked a few companies and got mixed replies.

If your neighbour is happy, then use the same company they did.

Hi, I have also found mixed replies for a similar situation. Just wondering if you went with the glass only replacement and if the results were satisfactory? thanks

    Hi there,

We are going with the glass.

We got a new composite front door and the fitter said our window frames were as good if not better quality than new ones.

They wont take triple glazing but they will take high energy rated double glazing units.

could anyone please give going rate these days for new pvc windows, plain 2 or 3 panel, anthracite for a small 3 bed. 6 windows. Also a sliding anthracite basic patio door. Nothing fancy, just selling the house. Thank you !

Not being smart but it varies considerably. Just ask for quotes from a few local/national companies. No obligation.

thanks for the reply and yes, you’re right. I got a quote of €14k which sounds a bit much by a place in Donaghmefe..senator dearer. and still waiting a week for 2 other quotes. Was told 8-10k by a few friends. I’m in a hurry though - might get them up north - did that years back and was fab job for supply and fit and cheaper, maybe not anymore. Crazy prices here. Can be bought from trade centre and just find a fitter. Half the cost..just takes organising. Thanks

My neighbor got new windows and frames for 9k earlier in the year.

A guy on FB says he could replace the glass for 4/5k.

My frames have a date stamp of 2000 on them so I'm in two minds, for me might be worth doing the whole hog.
