Firebird burner

    Hello Lads,

I have a problem where the power to the circ pump is cut off by the overrun stat after few minutes operation probably due to faulty stat. Supposed to cut at 87 deg I think.

But in my boiler the switched power and permanent power are all the one (ie no permanent power really). Hence the overrun aspect is not being used ( neither is the frost detector).

So to fix my pump cutting issue I've just bypassed the overrun stat, connecting switched power direct to pump live.

Does anyone see a problem with this that I haven't thought of???

Am I thinking correctly about it?

Edit: I think I follow now. You have the firebird pump overrun stat, but aren’t using it as you have no permanent live. Yes there should be no issue connecting pump directly to switched live.

I am guessing this is an outdoor boiler, and so should have a permanent live for frost protection and potentially for post purge if it is one of the newer Elco burners.
