Outdoorsy Stag Ideas - Feb/Beginning March

I'm currently planning a stag and having a bit of trouble coming up with something a little out of the ordinary. The groom wouldn't be super interested in a Carrick on Shannon type package stag and would be more interested in doing something that's a bit of an experience with a smaller group. With it being in February/March, I was originally completely off the idea of Ireland, leaning more towards something like the Canaries so we could make use of the weather, but I'm not totally ruling out Ireland either. I've hit a bit of a brick wall with it at this stage, so there might be some ideas that might give me some help. Here's a gist of what I'm thinking:

    • Things he'd enjoy would be outdoors generally - the best times we've had together in the past have all been weekend outdoors type trips like canoeing/camping/kayaking/fishing/big campfire type thing etc.
    • I'm not totally against Ireland, but the weather kills it a bit here given the time of the year. That said, I might not thinking about something that could definitely suit.
    • Aiming for 2-3 nights (Friday to Sunday or Friday to Monday) in Ireland or within 3ish hours flying. Need to have flight times that work.
    • About 8-10 people
    • We'd all like a drink, but nobody interested in Magaluf/Benidorm type thing.
    • He's big into motorsport type stuff (drifting/racing etc) so that might be an angle. Was considering a lap of the Nuremburg for arguments sake.

Here's some ideas I was running with:

    • Tenerife from Friday to Monday with a boat chartered for one of the day and canyoning for another.
    • Tenerife from Friday to Monday with a nice Airbnb and Surfing.
    • Tenerife (there's a pattern here) from Friday to Monday with rented mopeds and 3 separate places for Friday/Saturday/Sunday night (this one is a bit risky for a stag…).
    • Ireland somewhere from Friday to Sunday in a nice unique accommodation for some sort with fishing/hiking/campire/maybe Sauna beside the sea for hot/cold type thing.
    • Bulgaria from Friday to Monday in Sofia with skiing.

I'm running out a time a bit with planning, so just throwing it out there in case there are ideas I'm just not thinking of at all.

That’s a lot of money to ask people to cough up for a stag in my opinion.

Outdoorsy - 8/10 lads. Adventure centre in Ireland

Ya fair point re money - 4 of those (myself included) are groomsmen and the other 3 are totally fine with it, so in this case I'm comfortable enough. Good suggestion though - I'm a very short drive to Killary, but something like that is a pretty good shout.

The difficulty remains the same though - it has to be in February/March, so weather here isn't very favourable.

Jesus, is there anything worse than getting the summons for a 4 day stag abroad?

Have you considered even for a second that you are overthinking this? Ireland is full of activity centres all year round, head to one of the big mountain bike centres in Dublin or Limerick for example. Hit up some of the climbing centres in Dublin. Bundoran for surfing. There are loads of possibles, weather be damned.

Trust me, most of those 8-10 people don't want to be dragged off to Tenerife for a stag, your mate isn't that special.

I can see I've made a grave mistake asking 😅

I totally get it in fairness, and appreciate the sentiment. I'll say again it's not the case in this scenario - I know all of the people here really well and you'll just have to take my word on it for the sake of the question.

That said, the activity centre thing is still a good shout. That I'm overthinking it is also likely a good shout.

Agreed on foreign stags being a pain. I was MADE go by my missus to her future brother-in-laws’ stag abroad last year. 3 nights and it was painful. Activities were involved that you could’ve done in Ireland. Full week written off because of it.

must the stags I’ve been to have been abroad. And we all loved them, much better.
The best stag was 10 days snowboarding in Chamonix.

    Would you consider Skiing/Snowboarding ?
