What are the vents on my house?

    We recently bought a house. You cansee from photo that we have to step up into house. All floors are solid and not suspended or hollow. We're trying to work out for the vents at the bottom of the property are for. They're at each room. No standby sump for radon was installed, although this was a building reg when it was built.

    Possibly originally a suspended timber floor and concrete floor installed at a later stage (and just did not take out the vents)?

    As above, making good would have been tough with that detailing.
