Internal Wilka Lock - Handle hanging off

Hi guys- just wondering if anybody has any idea on how to fix one of these. I'm pretty handy but this one has me confused!

The only adjustable part of it that I can see, in terms of disassembling it, is the grub screw at the bottom- which is obviously not what I need!

Any ideas? The mother has struggled to get a locksmith out for some reason.

    Edit- including forgotten images!

@Esel thanks for hyperlinking- had thought the links automatically hyperlinked when I added the comment.

Anybody any ideas on this one?

Well I for one am confused. 😁

So we're trying to reset the handle so that it's horizontal and functional, but it has drooped.

I'd first twist the flange-plate anti-clockwise and loosen it off.

Then remove the grub screw and then pull the handle off the spindle. Then check whether the spindle is functional or whether the grub has twisted over the spindle.

The problem may be on the other side of the fitting. Is there a handle there? It looks to me like a blanking plate from the last pic.

If so, I would remove it to see what's what. Something in there that is meant to hold the handle/shaft in place may have come loose or failed.

If I'm right, it may be an easy fix.

To include a link, click the <> button at the bottom of the window, paste the link there and click insert.

If you just paste the link into the body of your text, it remains as just text (on Mobile at least).

It is exactly the same on the other side unfortunately- a handle with only an apparent grub screw being all that is adjustable. It seems to be an unusual type of internal lock/handle combination as far as I can tell.

Ah yep- thanks- would've been aware of that previously only I haven't posted in a while and was doing this in a rush! (too used to applications automatically picking up on links when pasted)

It's a few weeks since I tried- but I did try gripping the plate and turning it- it seemed to just spin endlessly. However, not knowing if it was actually properly threaded to something or not, I likely didn't try for very long. I'll give this a go again.

Thanks - I'll revert back here if I get anywhere with this.

Had another look there in the last hour. I eventually got the circular plate moving with a bit of elbow grease. However, nothing happens- it's not threaded, rather it forms a part of the plate behind it which has two cylindrical pieces protruding into the door itself (pictured here, this is the working side of the door handle). So this does not turn as a result.

Have you removed the other side yet?

Take the face plate of the other side and see if it has screws in it the go through the door to secure the handle pictured.

Wake me up when it's all over.

The circular cover plate is probably part of the handle. loosen the grub screw and the handle and plate should come off, revealing the screws that that go through the door .

Grub screws are out on both sides, but unfortunately no movement with that plate piece. It seems to be "on" the plate under it, rather than threaded. It just keeps spinning. This is the same on both sides, so effectively there seems to be no obvious way to remove either plate.

The only option I can think of at this point is to use brute force, potentially damaging one of the plates, or door.

There may be a grub screw on the underside of that circular cover plate. Don't get the crowbar out just yet.

    Edit;

Looked again, try a little pull pressure on the handle and at the same time turn the cover plate anti-clockwise.

Thanks, will try the next time I'm at the mother's and get back to you.

Jesus I'm an awful eejit. Turns out that front plate cover pops off when prised off with an allen key. I had been too gentle with it and was assuming it screwed/threaded off.

Have since fixed the lock back on by tightening screws on both sides. Thanks for the help- can't believe it was that easy in the end!
