I hope to insulate my attic in the next few weeks..I got a quote but it's working out quite expensive even with the seai grant.

I think I'll just buy the insulation myself and lay it down. I will be putting 200mm earthwool at right angle over the rock wool already there between the joists.

Apart from leaving a gap at the eves for air circulation are there any other things I need to know.

    Thanks.

Get expanding foam to cover all the places air gets thru like above lights. Pipes from water tank going downstairs.Top of wall plates below the joists...

The air 'nicks' the heat from the insulation. You'll see dark couloring on the existing rockwool where there are air gaps to seal. Or walk around below the ceiling to see where pipew and cables go up. Hotpress, wires for bathroom exractor fan…

Will be some good short YouTube videos on that for you if needed.

Stick a few youtube links up. I'll do the same in my house. Gaps under skirting boards are a weak point I find. Air gets behind the plaster board and out the bottom

    Thanks for replies above

What's the difference between Earthwool and Eko loft roll.

    Earthwool approx e58 per roll

    Eko E 36 per roll.

    Roll s are same size
