Advice on €1500 build

Can I get some advice on this build before I pull the trigger please? I was tossing between a 7600x with cooler and a 7800XT or this build. I was also squeezing in a SN850X but that's probably overkill. One thing I just can't get sorted for some reason is a case.

To be used mostly for programming, starting to record music and as a secondary gaming device.

Budget is €1500 / ~£1200. Buying from the UK is much cheaper with a wider variety of choice than Irish websites. Was also recommended caseking.de but this list is all Amazon with prime delivery that deliver here

Almost zero difference day-to-day between the 7600 and 7600x. Not going to impact sound recording or gaming significantly. The 7900GRE is certainly a better option over the 7800XT for gaming but I'd argue the 7800XT is better value and certainly very capable. 32GB of RAM is good. Any decent NVMe drive is as good as the next for gaming. For handling large sound files you might see a benefit but I'd still suspect any half decent SSD will do the job. Might be able to time quicker boot times but you'd struggle to notice without a stopwatch.

What sound recording software are you looking at? This should guide your CPU choice. If it likes more cores/threads then a 7700x and the 7800XT strikes me as the best combo for your use.

Also, word on the street is AMD is about to drop it's price of the 7x00 GPUs to clear them for Q1 2025 of the next generation. Just food for thought

Thanks Coyler. It's not serious music recording, more like playing around than anything else. Far from the point where I'd need to build around it anyway.

Been posting this on Reddit and it's been less than useful. Either no one replies or everyone has different opinions!

Pcpartpicker shows no compatibility issues so I'm assuming it'll all work. RAM is EXPO at the apparent sweet spot of CL30 and 6000. Just kinda going someone would validate that the build makes sense.

About the price, one theme I've noticed is that you'll always have a reason to wait for "the next thing". I'm happy enough with it. More than I initially planned to spend on a GPU and may still change my mind. Given that my current setup is a dell laptop from 6ish years ago whose battery lasts 5 minutes, I feel the GRE might last me 10 years instead of 8!

As long as you are aware AMD could be dropping pricies significantly very soon. But they won't be giving them away either. Also, AMD doing game bundles with certain retailers as well. Worth a look especially for Space Marine 2 alone.

If all you are doing is tinkering then your build is fine. Just to check, what about case, keyboard, monitor and mouse?

And, you'll be happy with either the 7800XT or the 7900 GRE. it's a 10% difference in performance and both will play 1440p with high settings on pretty much all AAA titles out there right now. At the very least you are going to get time out of both until well into the next console generation.

I'd also be careful to assume any part will be still capable for 10 years. Hardware from the mid 2010s got away with murder for the last decade for a multitude of reasons. A perfect storm if you will. 5-7 years or the console life cycles are a good rule of thumb.

Already have a monitor and accessories. I'll be upgrading these at some point in the future but it's not an issue in the short term. Case is the one thing I can't seem to settle on and where the last of the budget is going (~€100). Was tossing between a Corsair 4000D and a montech 903 air. I've no interest in the RGB but not against it either, aesthetics don't really interest me. Amazon doesn't have a great selection so it might be a paradigit job. Any recommendations?

Hagglezon is worth checking out for price comparison across all the Amazon sites. Amazon.de tend to have the best selection. After that Caseking is another good option from Germany. Can't vouch for others as never used them
