    Any information would be great.

We are considering moving from the uk to killaloe. Family of four, boys aged 12 and 9.
    I am originally from Galway.
Could I ask for information about schools, which ones would you recommend. Eldest boys isn’t very academic and more hands on I think a technical college or something like that would suit him better. The youngest is very academic .

They lovely fishing, is there a junior fishing club?

They are also into tennis, golf, Gaa and soccer. Any information would be great.

My husband will be commuting from ireland back to the uk Tuesday -Thursday. Then will be working from Ireland with once weekly commute to Dublin. Is it best to drive or get the train to Dublin.

Any advised would be great. Especially from those who have already made the move.
    many thanks

    O

Killaloe's a lovely spot; scenic and quiet but with a decent amount of amenities in town. No idea about schools myself, as I've no kids, but there's a boy's primary school and a secondary school in town. There's also a GAA club and a very nice tennis club. Plenty of fishing around here, so I'm sure there must be some groups or clubs involved in that as well. For golf, the closest standard course would be the East Clare Golf Club, not too far past Tuamgraney. There aren't really any pitch and putt courses in the immediate area, though I think there might be one in Nenagh, about half an hour's drive.

Driving would definitely be faster; it's about two hours each way on the motorway, maybe a little more at rush hour and depending on exactly where in Dublin he's commuting to (Citywest? Be grand. The Docklands? Welp…). There's no simple way to get there via transit; closest train would be Birdhill and even that will be a 3-4 hour journey with at least one change. Or you could drive into Limerick and get the train from there, but that's half an hour or more of driving already plus a couple hours or more on the train. Trying to get there without driving at all will probably take four hours or more, and the two buses that comes through town are not frequent or very early (earliest departure is about 7AM on the Ballina route), so he'd need to have a very flexible flex-time policy, an odd work schedule (but hopefully not so odd he misses the last bus home!), or an extraordinarily understanding manager…

For commuting to the UK, good news is that you're only about 45 minutes from Shannon and the UK is one of the few places that flights from Shannon still go fairly regularly. If the schedules or destinations from Shannon don't suit, though, then it's going to be the long two-hour drive to DUB, I'm afraid.
