Your best ways to keep paving clear of moss/weeds?

Our driveway paving has sand brushed between the stones. To get rid of moss and weeds growing I have power washed and brushed in replacement sand / used washing powder / removed by hand. I have tried to spray afterwards though I have not consistently sprayed every year. 2 sprays per year might be needed.

I know this is a FAQ. What I am wondering is what method works consistently for people, that when applied keeps things clean!

I'm going to be controvertial and say that would not offend me at all. Provided it is not actual weeds, which can be pulled as they pop up, that small mossy stuff I don't mind at all. However, if it has to be kept clean, I'd say weedkiller. I wouldn't power wash it too often, I reckon it removes the surface.

I use it the odd time with biological washing powder, to try to keep weeds and moss on my tarmac under control.

I find it does a decent job.

I use a bioside called Actiwash for moss its excellent on cobbles and tarmac. Weeds I have used roundup previously

I wouldn't advise using salt; it's not specifially designed for this and would probably be more harmful than a dedicated chemical esp if you use too much

Great to hear about Actiwash @GIMP. I see it there for €35. Do you use it 10-1? Do you apply to the likes of the moss in my picture in a watering can, leave for x days and it kills it? How to get off the dead moss without power hosing?

Path clear does a decent job - but once powerhosed , if the driveway is not massive a quick brush every month with a brush dipped in diluted jayes fluid should keep it weed free -

Thats an interesting idea with the jayes fluid @Oscar_Madison ! Our area is about 200 sq m so a bit of work.

Your paving looks beautiful boardtc . We have the same pavers but a lot more small weeds and grass. We power wash and resend once a year, spray and clear weeds a few times during the year and at this stage I feel like concreting over it .

It only lasts for a month or two and the bvggers start popping up again 😐

Ratio of 1 liter to 10 litres water in a knapsack sprayer, put it on liberally and leave it, moss turns brown and dies. I had heavy coverage of moss so i powerwashed the dead moss off the tarmac about six weeks later. Driveway 6 months later looks like it did when it was first laid 4 years ago 😁😁

In the Summer I used boiling water followed by salt for stubborn dandelions on a driveway. They are gone! It's worth a try on moss although I like the look of yours. I think spraying vinegar on the moss would work too.

Just scatter biological washing powder, the cheapest you can find, when there's some rain due. I did mine last week. all moss is dead and it just brushes off.
